Fished out from Van Stratten's today from 8:30 till 4, 3 guys no fish. Seemed everyone wasn't doing that well at all, little to nil, from the guys that stopped and talked to us and from everyone moving around. One of the neighbors is on his way back in, they supposedly nailed them after 6 tonight, seems odd for lakers, will get the full report from him in a bit. We were in 160ft all day. Gonna be back out there in the next few days if the ice holds up still, getting pretty punky with the sun and warm weather. The ice is gonna go quick North of the lighthouse when it does so look out.

With all these warm temps has anyone seen any rise in activity around river or creek mouth's through the ice? Thinking about switching gears and trying shallow one day here soon.

I'm heading out in the morning, shallow on the west side in front of a creek mouth. Will post results when I get back.

Caution!

As I left the ice today you can actually hear it melting away. Crossed a hairy looking spot to get on the ice today by the Little Carp. Started in 15ft and ended in 20ft. Didn't see any fish. Got a late start on the morning anyway and didn't get out there till 9:30. Only fished to noon as I was worried if I was gonna get wet or not getting off the ice. Not many guys out even deep for lakers. If we get any wind at all and that sun keeps up the ice is gonna be gone quick. Also chance for rain Wed night into Thur. There's not that much ice out that way anyway so be careful guys.

On a side note I saw quite a few people fishing off the launch in Chassell as I went by out in the middle, the crappie must be picking up out there, anyone got any reports?

I was off Van Stratten's early this morning and did OK. 4 fish before 10:00 then they quit. Fished until noon with no more bites.  Had 7 inches of good ice; the top hasn't even started to get soft yet.  One crack was open about 6" this morning but had closed by the time I went back.  Last trip will be tomorrow morning, then panfish 'till the snow is gone.  I saw your shanty by the creek mouth and was wondering how you did.  Glad I didn't walk over to find out.   That side always has broken up ice and usually a big pressure crack to clinb over near shore.  When some water starts flowin good out of the creek there might be more fish hanging around there.

We were off the Mission this afternoon and had 6-8" of ice.  The top is getting soft and the snow has turned slushy.  There were machines and 4 wheelers going across but getting on the ice without hitting sand everywhere along the beach is the trick.  Haven't been to squaw beach for a while  so can't tell what's going on there.  Avoid the broken up old stuff around the Mission.  Slush and variable ice there in the small cakes last Friday.
We had 6 fish early this morning 220' but nothing after 10:00.  I'm done for the year on K-bay.
Yesterday's fish from Van Strattens. C-phonr pic; forgot the camera.
